What is it about a photo?  Holidays, birthdays, graduations, sports games, dance recitals, baptisms, weddings, anniversaries; at some point during all of these events someone is always taking photos.  How many of you remember standing in a line at JCPenny or Sears for hours waiting to get your Christmas pictures taken every year?  Or at a school awards ceremony having to stand in the front of the stage so your parents could take a photo of you holding your certificate.  As a kid you may not understand or appreciate the importance of capturing these moments, but the truth of the matter is you can never get any of them back.

Fast-forward 30 years and you will find there are so many more options when it comes to photography.  Still with all of the advances in this digital world we live in, where we send e-cards and e-in vites and invite friends to like us on social media, one thing is for certain, nothing can leave a more lasting memory than a printed photo.

How many of you have yearly photos taken by a professional photographer?  Do you plan what to wear? Maybe get your hair done? Find coordinating outfits?  Put thought into where you want the photos taken?  If you are shaking your head yes, it’s because these are important and special times in your lives that you want to capture forever.  You want to be able to look back years from now and remember the exact time in your life you and your loved ones were celebrating a milestone or having a first Christmas, Anniversary, or Birthday.

With the wave of technology turning everything digital, many people have come to expect their photos have to be digital too.  But they don’t have to be.

Having trouble choosing between a print and digital photographer?  Let’s break it down.  If you choose a digital photographer, you might not get what you see.

  • You’re left with images on a CD. Computers no longer come with CD drives.
  • Having so many photos, you get overwhelmed. This may deter you from printing yourself.
  • Even if you do print them from a local lab, the colors may not be accurate or the print itself may deteriorate due to not being of professional photography.

 

Now let’s say you actually do get around to printing.  Where will you go? What will you print?  You do not have access to professional photography labs.  So you go to Walmart.  You get a tiny $1 print that you have to squint to look at and will fade on you pretty quickly.  Why invest any sort of money into a professional when you do not receive professional quality?
